My Favorite Resources [#MTBoSBlaugust]

It's #MTBoSBlaugust 2016!  I'm challenging myself to blog daily throughout August, and you can too.  Join the fun!

Today I'm sharing my three favorite, go-to resources.

1.  Math Bits Notebook - The most important website for any teacher in New York was regentsprep.org.  The website had notes for each topic, interactive practice questions, and suggestions for teaching each topic.  Then Common Core happened.  The people that created the math sections of regentsprep.org went on to create Math Bits Notebook.  It does much of the same thing regentsprep.org did, but now it is updated for the Common Core curriculum.  I use this website when I need clarification on something I'm teaching, example problems, or when students need extra help.  I think teachers outside of NY will find it just as helpful.

2.  jmap.org - This must have been my most used website for my first three years of teaching.  It catalogues all of the old regents exams, and sorts old exam questions by topic.  I often use this website for finding examples, homework questions, and assessment questions.

3.  Problem-Attic - I'm pretty sure it was Sarah Carter that introduced me to Problem-Attic.  Parts of the website are free.  Luckily, the questions for New York are free.  (I wish the SAT prep questions were free as well.)  Ultimately, Problem-Attic does the same thing as jmap, but Problem-Attic does more.  With Problem-Attic, I can choose problems to create worksheets, and there are more problems available than just the old Regents questions.  This has been my savior this past year.  If I ever needed something quick, like an additional practice assignment, or an extra credit assignment, this website made it quick and easy.

These are the three resources that came to mind right away.  I will do an update post if I think of more.

  1. Thanks for sharing! Do you know if Problem-Attic has pre-calc level problems?

    1. I don't see anything labeled as pre-calc. There are some things that labeled "advanced Algebra", but I'm not sure if that would be what you're looking for.
